Module Code: MGT6176        Coursework Code: MGT6176-1

Module Title: Comparative Finance and Financial Services

Date Available: October 2021

Submission details:  Deadline: 24/01/2022 12pm (noon) UK TIME

Electronic submission only through Blackboard (MOLE)

Students are now allowed to submit one Turnitin Check per assignment, which will close 24 hours before the assignment deadline.  This allows students to generate an originality report and use this to improve their referencing and citation skills. Turnitin Check is NOT the final submission – students still need to submit their work to the Assignment Link, otherwise it will be marked as Not Submitted.

Students should note that the time of submission is taken from once the document has been successfully uploaded and confirmed – this may take more than five minutes during busy periods. Late penalties will be applied to any work submitted from 12.01pm (noon) on 24/01/2022 onwards. Details of how to calculate a late penalty can be found in the PG Handbook. It is the student’s responsibility to ensure the document/file has uploaded successfully.

When submitting students must:

  1. Include a completed cover sheet (available from Blackboard (MOLE))

Use ‘Student Number, MGTXXX-1’ (e.g. 190011001 MGT6176 Assignment 1) as the document’s file name and also as the Assignment Title in Turnitin.

Contribution to Final Mark for Module: 100%

Maximum Word Length: 3,000 words. The word count is for the main body of the text but excluding the executive summary and the list of contents, tables, graphs and charts located at the start of the report. In addition, tables, figures, charts within the report, together with the reference list and appendices are not included in the word count. If you exceed the word length you will be penalised. For details see the Management School Handbooks.

Requirements:

You are asked to write a report to assess how the developments following the Global Financial Crisis, in particular changes in regulation, advances in technology, competition, and responses to the impact of COVID-19, have affected the risks faced by banks and the financial services they provide.

Note:

1. Limit your analysis to banks and competitors that are headquartered in the US or the UK or the EU.

2. This report may pertain to a specific bank or to the banking sector.

3. Your report should be professionally presented in a structured consultancy report format and should include references.

4. You should acknowledge the source of any material, such as tables and figures, included in your report.

5. It is expected that you will draw upon a range of literature, industry journals and information sources to provide backing to your own arguments. You should include tables and graphs to support your conclusions. Any data reported in tables and figures will have to be adequately discussed in the text of your responses.

6 Your answers should utilise the full range of techniques and considerations which the module covers.

7. Advice on the layout of a consultancy report will be given as part of topic 10.

Feedback

Feedback on this assignment will be provided to you in writing within the agreed university turn-around time. Individual meetings are available on request to discuss the feedback.

Referencing: You must reference your work correctly using the Harvard method.  Failure to do so will result in the deduction of marks and possible proceedings under the University's Regulations as to the Use of Unfair Means
